Regardless of whether your visit is for business or pleasure, you will receive a warm welcome from our Housekeeper, Lesley Baines or her team, who will show you our facilities and settle you into your accommodation. We provide privacy, with a strong sense of old fashioned service and friendship in our magnificent heritage home.  If you need advice, (e.g. recommendations on where to eat, directions etc) please ask, we regularly help our residents with all sorts of things.

Check In
Check in is from 1pm to 9.30pm Monday to Saturday or up to 3pm Sunday, unless special arrangements have been made. 

When you have finalised your travel arrangements, it is appreciated if you would kindly call us with your expected time of arrival.  Please telephone the Housekeeper's Office on 01904 464902 during office hours (9am - 5pm) or leave a message on our answer phone and we will call you back to confirm.  If you’re outside of this time, call our Evening Receptionist on 07840 345544 from 5pm to 10pm.  For night time emergencies call 01904 464880.

If you arrive between 5pm and 9.30pm the front door will be locked for security reasons, so please ring the door bell located on the left hand side of the door and the Evening Receptionist will welcome you, if you’re struggling to be heard, call our Evening Receptionist on 07840 345544 from 5pm to 10pm or our night time emergency line thereafter on 01904 464880.

Catering

Breakfast is served in the café from:

• 07.45 - 10am Monday - Saturday
• 08.15 - 10am Sunday

A continental style breakfast is included in the room price and served in our café. This includes juice, choice of cereals, toast, croissants, yogurt and fresh fruit. 

A full English breakfast is also available.  This is included in the price of all en-suite accommodation and is available to all other guests for a small additional charge of £4.50 per person.

Unlike many other accommodation providers, we also offer fully equipped kitchens for guests to use, which are ideal for evening snacks when you just feel like a few home comforts during your stay. This is particularly useful for families with small children or business travellers who want the facilities a home would provide.

For those who prefer to spoil themselves we offer home cooked food in our legendary Café for lunches, morning coffee and afternoon tea. We have an excellent bean-to-cup coffee machine serving Fairtrade Latte, Cappuccino and Mocha coffees to leisurely drink in our peaceful garden, cafe or just take back to your room with a good book.

York has a vast selection of places to eat out, so we simply offer a selection of homemade cold plated meals in the evening, which can be ordered if you prefer to stay in for a change.  Please speak to the Housekeeper who will be happy to help.

Special Occasions
Celebrate your stay and let us arrange flowers, chocolates or wine for you or your loved one on arrival.  We can suit all budgets, so please call or email our House Keeper to make arrangements.

Facilities
There are ample bathrooms, toilets and showers available on each floor and all towels and linen are supplied. FREE wi-fi internet access is available in most rooms. Sittings rooms with TVs are located on the 1st and 2nd floors.  There is a small snooker table and a selection of board games in the Recreation Room.

Access For Guests With Disabilities
Wheelchair access via a large lift leads to the disabled toilet on the 1st floor. The passenger lift serves the 1st and 2nd floors, but access to the 3rd floor is via the stairs. View Accessibility Details.

Business Travellers
We welcome business travellers.  Many of our team have worked away from home for months, so we know what’s essential.  We offer something unique...a more personal, homely and flexible environment than a hotel, but with the peace and privacy to work or unwind.

We offer modern business facilities, but inside heritage surroundings at cost effective rates.  Free WIFI is available to all residents and fax/email facilities can be arranged via our Reception Office.  Plated meals can also be arranged from our café.

We have four meeting rooms and full conference catering facilities available with audio digital and conference call facilities.  Our rooms are perfect for training, meetings and conferences with up to 80 delegates - at hotel beating rates!

Car Parking
There is a Pay & Display long stay car park just opposite the Bar Convent on Nunnery    Lane. This car park now has facilities to Park and Pay by phone on arrival. The number to call is 0870 4283854. Quote location number 7709 and you will be able to select the number of hours you wish to pay for using your credit/debit card.

Group Bookings
In the case of group bookings a bond will be required i.e. valid credit card details or a sum of £100. This money will be refunded at the end of the visit provided the Housekeeper is satisfied with the condition of the allocated rooms.  See our Guest House Terms & Conditions.
