| December 2011 We were delighted to host the Stamford Bridge Singers and The York Philharmonic Male Voice Choir in December. Both Choirs were excellent, so please do take the opportunity to hear them when they next perform. I would also like to say a big “Thank You” to all our Friends who kindly assisted to make The Christmas Carol Concert such a huge success. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 22nd November 2011 One of the biggest highlights of our year was having the legendary actor Edward Fox OBE and his lovely wife Joanna David visit us this week. Edward recited T.S. Eliot’s, The Four Quartets to a sell out crowd at The Bar on Tuesday evening. Personally I sat in awe wondering how on earth could he stand and speak for 90 minutes with no notes and remember it all?! Edward proved that he is an absolute professional and has not lost an ounce of his skill. Following the show I was introduced to Edward’s absolutely charming wife, Joanna and we were joined by our host Sr Agatha for late night supper across the road at the superb Delrio’s restaurant (highly recommended). Joanna is also a very well known actress, having starred in everything from BBC 1’s Pride and Prejudice to Inspector Morse. What really struck me spending time with this wonderful couple was how appreciative, kind and friendly they were. We hardly talked show business during dinner and most of the time they were more interested in talking about us. It’s true that some celebrities do deserve their bad press for being poor role models to a younger generation, not these however, they are a talented and caring couple that many young celebrities could learn from. The event made the front cover of The Press, read more by visiting here. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 22nd September 2011 The feedback from our recent event was really encouraging. The event sold out weeks before and guests who attended described it as a truly wonderful evening...Outstanding food, value and non-stop entertainment from one of the country’s most hospitable Nuns, Sr Agatha. Sr Agatha was really on form and kept everyone entertained with witty remarks, thought provoking stories and our hostess even managed to fit in a tour of the Chapel! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5th May 2011 Our Guest House was awarded a Certificate Of Excellence from our customers, who voted us 4.5 out of 5. |
