York Local Area...

The Bar Convent is conveniently located close to the centre of the City of York, situated just outside the City Walls at Micklegate.

York is well known for its history and its sites of historical interest, such as the Jorvik Centre, York Minster, Clifford's Tower (pictured right), the Richard III Museum and the City Walls themselves. There are also numerous interesting museums such as York Castle Museum and the amazing National Railway Museum.

York is well known in Yorkshire for its excellent shopping, restaurants and bars especially "The Shambles", where modern shopping mixes with York's historic buildings.

Clifford's Tower

York Race Course is located on the edge of the City for those visitors who enjoy Horse Racing, and the York Air Museum is located at Elvington, just a few minutes drive from the city centre. York has a modern 12 screen cinema complex at Clifton Moor, on the northern outskirts of the city ring road.

The Spa town of Harrogate is only 20 miles away with it's beautiful gardens and open spaces, conference centre, as well as being the home of Betty's Tea Rooms (there is also one in York for those wanting an extra-special tea time treat).

York is also an ideal base for exploring the North York Moors National Park, being only a 25 minute drive away.

So, whatever your interests, you can guarantee that there is something for everyone nearby.
